Explore East Devon

Farwood Barton Holiday cottages are ideally placed between coast and countryside, three miles from the picturesque town of Colyton with itsGames Barn quiet winding streets and tramway running to the coast at Seaton through the bird-rich Axe Marshes.

A 10 minute journey into the Blackdown Hills takes you to Honiton, famous for its lace-making, where there is a friendly market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

To the south lies the fossil-rich Jurassic coast, a World Heritage Site. Branscombe has steep-sided valleys and a long beach, while Beer offers a sheltered harbour, fishing trips which can be arranged from the beach and the Beer Quarry caves with an area of 50 football pitches!

Drifting west, there is the regency town of Sidmouth with its imposing sea front, high red cliffs, safe beaches and the pretty Connaught Gardens. Then Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth with the longest sandiest beach on this part of the Jurassic coast line.

To the East lies Lyme Regis with the famous Cobb Harbour and then Charmouth, famous for its fossil beach.

Further afield but still within reach are the cathedral city of Exeter with its underground passages, the county towns of Taunton and Dorchester with Maiden Castle close by.
